After going through chemo treatment for Granulosa Cell Tumor cancer in 2003, and the again starting in September 2009, Brother Nick Seibert's wife, Diane, fell ill with septic shock on July 16th requiring emergency surgery. This was a life threatening situation. With great sadness we report that, Diane lost her courageous battle on August 15, 2010 at 2:30 PM. She will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nick and his two daughters.

Washington State FOP Executive Director Bill Hanson Appointed as Director
of the
Washington State Lottery Commission
Governor Chris Gregoire has appointed WAFOP Executive Director Bill Hanson as the Director of the State Lottery Commission. Bill accepted the appointment and began his duties with the Lottery Commission on May 16, 2010.
It will be very difficult task to replace Bill as our Executive Director and Legislative Liaison, however we are pleased for Bill at the Governor’s choice. In today's society it is good to have quality people in key positions working on behalf of our state and we are excited for Bill and the experience he brings to his new position.
The Governor's appointment was bittersweet for Bill as he enjoyed his work with the FOP and supporting key law enforcement issues in the legislature, however the decision for him to lead the Lottery Commission is a great honor and a great opportunity.
We will miss Bill at the State FOP level but will continue to look forward to working with him on many of our issues and of course he will remain an FOP member with Capital City Lodge #19 in Olympia. Bill has agreed continue to provide his expert advice and guidance with recommendations on legislative issues and candidates for elections.
The State Executive Board is in the process of ensuring that we have a Legislative Liaison on board with us prior to the next legislative session. Look for more specific information at the State Conference in October.
