Help Save Baby Ty's LIFE

In June of 2020, Officer (Parrish) Kamu Brito joined the O’Fallon Police Department, after serving with the Honolulu Police Department for 4 years, and previously attending McKendree College. He and his wife recently welcomed their first child, Ty. Ty was quickly diagnosed with Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID), making him highly susceptible to infections and disease. SCID was commonly referred to as “bubble boy disease” and inspired the 1976 film “The Boy in the Plastic Bubble”.

Luckily due to newborn screening and advances in medicine, Ty can lead a healthy and successful life, but he needs your help. The most common treatment for SCID is a bone marrow transplant… but we need a match. You could be that match! The easiest way to find out is to join the National Bone Marrow Donor Program; they’ll send you an at-home kit to collect a swab and return at no cost.

To join the registry, anyone in the US between the ages of 18-40 can simply Text Ty to 61474 or click the link https://bit.ly/3doBQi3

If you’re a match for Ty, or anyone else, there is never any cost associated with donating.

Donating is not painful, and most often resembles plasma or platelet donation.

The more people who register, the better odds there are to find a match!

As always, we appreciate your support.
